Enjoyable ...relaxing...an ideal place for a very quiet Holiday
Beautiful Hotel but location poor. Lack of sunbeds so getting a room with own pool or jacuzzi essential. Entertainment poor and lack lustre and no alternatives. Staff excellent...food lovely . Do not come if you can't handle hills or steps i struggled until I sussed out the lifts. Nothing to do and no where to go unless in a taxi loved the hotel itself but would not return unless better Entertainment improves. Also pool bar only serve cold snacks during the day and ran out of one of my favourite drinks and still had none the following evening
Perfect Stay!
We have just returned from our 1 weeks stay at the King Minos Resort & Spa to which we experienced an amazing time from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly member of the concierge, named Panos who came down to meet us & delivered our luggage up to the reception area. We were then greeted by Maria, from guest relations who was very informative, welcoming & helpful for the duration of our stay. We stayed in a Class Double Room with Sea View & Whirlpool which we absolutely loved. Room was good size, and thoroughly cleaned on a daily basis by the hardworking house keeping team. We were All Inclusive, and really enjoyed the food. There was variety of choices everyday for breakfast, lunch & dinner- coffees/teas/cold drinks were taken by a waiter at your table. Onto the pool area & bar area- the highlight for us was how quiet & relaxing the pool area was. There was never any issues with sunbeds and the pool guy Erol was brilliant. So happy, helpful and a gentleman. Bar staff were also so polite & happy, and the watermelon round at 3pm every afternoon was a nice touch. We couldn’t have had a more perfect stay at the King Minos- we will be returning next year. Special thanks to Maria, Erol, Manos, Sotris, Sofia, Monda, Romina and many other of the friendly staff members. See you next year!
Amazing place
Amazing place, with amazing staff. The whole ethos of the hotel is amazing and all the staff are so warm and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back to see Mike, Demitris and all the staff 🥰😎
Nice hotel dreadful all inclusive plus
Stayed 10 nights at this hotel all inclusive plus with jet 2 holidays ,booked 2 sea view rooms. We were allocated side / partial sea view rooms ,the view from mines was the car park and front entrance ,took 2 days and some dialogue to get room changed . Beautiful hotel all clean and new but lots of tweaks required . Read the reviews prior to booking all very positive and nothing negative. British people weren’t happy with bar service or snacks. The all inclusive plus through jet 2 is awful no hot snacks only cold snacks kept in a very small fridge at the pool, no ice cream ,the hotel staff come round with water melon and after 6 pm no snacks at all. it’s waitress service from the only bar there is to your seat or around the pool ,very slow . If you have dietery requirements forget it ,there’s no labels on food and no one can tell you what’s in the food . Very relaxing hotel but the play list is repeated continuously and becomes tedious ,there are trucks and lorries that go past the top road behind the bar very often which isn’t ideal. You have 1 visit to a la carte whilst there ..you pay 10 euro per 100 grammes for steak and burgers with minimum steak 300 grammes and burgers 200 grammes. All in all the most expensive 10 days all inclusive we have paid for as it was my sisters 60 th , not impressed ,wouldn’t say good value.
5* The pictures don’t do the hotel justice, absolutely gorgeous!!
I have just returned from a 10 night stay at King Minos retreat & spa with my husband September 2023 We booked the hotel off abit of a whim, as there wasn’t much online to go off since the recent renovation over summer and at the time of booking pictures and reviews were limited. However, we was absolutely blown away with this hotel, the decor, rooms (the comfiest bed in the world), food, drinks, staff and service were all incredible and would definitely recommend this to family and friends. We have stayed in 5* resorts before and this was by far the best we have tried, and my first time to Crete. It’s a relatively small and intimate hotel and not like big grand complex’s with multiple restaurants and pools you often see for other 5* we have visited, we very much preferred King Minos for this. Our room was 2314, we had a lovely balcony that had a sea view and we got the sun all day. Some of the rooms especially those with individual pools if on the ground floor don’t get the sun all day, so this is to be considered, as those rooms are significantly more expensive, so may be worth checking before. Those rooms that backed onto the pool side did not get the sun, those at the front and to the right of the hotel nearer the Spa and main entrance do. There are no sunbed wars in a morning which we absolutely loved. We often didn’t go down to the pool area until 10:30/11:00 and you could always get a sun bed. No one reserved sunbeds and is something that is in your welcome information which we really appreciated, as when you’re on holiday who wants to get up at 6am to reserve a bed. The hotel provides pool towels, you just need to ask at the bar. The atmosphere around the pool is so relaxed and calming, staff will often circulate to ask if you need anything and bring you drinks if requested, however we often went to the bar ourselves if we wanted anything, which most people seemed to do. The staff work so so hard (and long hours in the heat) and are all so friendly, they honestly can’t do enough for you. The daily mid afternoon watermelon round was a little treat too. We visited the spa on a cloudy day, staff circulate in the day and offer you information if you wish. I had a massage and facial which was so good! We had the Spa to ourselves so we felt very special. The hotel decor is gorgeous, everything is brand new and you can tell. It definitely feels like a Spa/Retreat when you’re there, calm, tranquil and smells lovely. The hotel is very adult, around the pool is very adult, which is what we wanted. There where 3/4 small children during our stay, toddlers, but I would say it’s definitely not a children friendly hotel, if you’re taking children you are going to be their only entertainment. There are things to do with children in the area so further down to the sea front about a 10 minute walk, and not easy if you have a pram, there is plenty of small children friendly water pools. Here there were lots of families. We were all inclusive and it was worth it, the cocktails, drinks and food were all absolutely gorgeous. No complaints at all, there are options for everyone and it changes each day. If someone can find something to complaint about in regards to food and drinks then they must be seriously fussy and very difficult to please. There is also a snack fridge next to the bar for all inclusive guests. Our mini fridge got restocked whenever we left our door on ‘green’ to be cleaned, towels to be changed we did this every 2 days. We enjoyed our A la carte meal, which is included if you’re all inclusive. You prebook this at main reception. We enjoyed an excursion we booked through the hotel, there is a desk next to reception where they can book and organise these for you. It was €49 each and we went on a trip to Agios Nikolaos and Spinalonga. It was really good and would recommend, however maybe isn’t suitable if you have mobility problems just to bear in mind, as it included a BBQ on the beach that was a rocky access route. The east side of the island is absolutely stunning, we would definitely return and try and spend longer on that side of the island. We have recommended King Minos to friends and family and would 100% return to this beautiful hotel. We laughed, on our transfer to and from, when we pulled up outside there where ooo’s and aaa’s from fellow passengers and whispers of how nice King Minos looked, well it did not disappoint. It also looked the nicest place/hotel we saw on our travels along the island. If you have booked, I’m jealous, enjoy and hope you return feeling as relaxed as we do. If we returned we would be tempted to be half board, as the old town has so many gorgeous greek restaurants to try. We did eat out here and got a taxi there which was easy from reception and worth the trip. However we found it good value for drinks if you are all inclusive.
