Topp hotell på Madeira
Veldig bra opphold! Her var alle aldersgrupper.
Overall a really good hotel
Overall this is a very nice hotel. The rooms are very spacious (two large very comfortable double beds) with a balcony and great views over the ocean. The pools are lovely, plenty of loungers and towels. It is in a good fairly quiet location, about 25-30 minute walk into the centre of Funchal, or about 6 euro in a taxi. My only slight criticism is that fresh coffee or tea was not offered at breakfast; you had to serve yourself from a machine and the coffee wasn't good! The food at breakfast was good, and the availability of a glass of prosecco is a nice touch! Also, they're stingy with bottled water, after a complimentary one in your room on arrival, you weren't left another had to buy your own after that! I'm nitpicking here; on the whole it I would recommend this hotel, although I would have preferred a bed and breakfast only option instead of half board as there were lots of nearby restaurants to try. At the hotel, the best option is the Italian Mama Mia where you can eat instead of the main buffet style hotel restaurant. We didn't try the other alternative (which seemed to be Barbeque food) and the sushi bar was closed, I suspect because we were out of season. There is a nice cocktail bar too.
Great location to stay for a week
Booked the hotel with British Airways holidays. Stayed here for 7 nights on half board 6th floor with ocean views. Room was ok but furniture a little tired and same with bathroom. Bedding was ok and bed comfortable but no cushions as per hotel pics. Towels and gowns were quite worn and sometimes threadbare not synonymous with a five star hotel. The lift systems to get to the ocean front was a challenge on first day but remedied. Food for breakfast was ok and egg ladies singing whilst they made your perfect omelettes was entertaining. The dine-around for dinner was great for us and we did that 5/7 times in the Italian and Madeiran. Both very disappointed the Japanese sushi was closed and one of the reasons we booked. Never used the spa, gym, diving or indoor pool. The cocktail bar in reception had live jazzy music Thursday to Sunday for local entertainment. All in all a good stay and special thanks to Simone Aguiar for organising our room and anniversary treats.
Lovely hotel with magnificent views
Stayed here with my wife from 8 to 12 March 2023. First visit to Madeira and a very good place to stay. We think we were given an upgrade from a booked superior room to a suite. Wonderful accommodation. We had half board, including an extensive selection of choices for all courses. The starters, desserts and cheese selections were splendid but the main courses, although a good range of options, were largely overcooked and uninspiring. Fortunately there was usually some meat or fish cooked from fresh and this was the best choice. One day we had dorado fillets which were excellent. From our room on the 10th floor it took about 10 minutes to get to the pool area by the sea. Worth the effort though. A great place to stay, but maybe not for much longer than we were there.
