Definitely recommend to stay here
We just came back from a lovely holidays in Crete. Hotel we stayed was really nice. The gardens around, the hotel and the bar were gorgeous - well kept by Nico! The pool area was lovely too, music playing all day. There are loads of sun beds and a great pool bar where you can get your breakfast, coffee or drink while you’re sunbathing. They have gorgeous front bar and Raffaele who works there making one of the nicest cocktails you must try. The owners were so lovely during our stay and gave us some tips what we should visit around Crete island. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone as it’s right in the middle of everything close to the beach, nightlife resturants and local shops.
Not a 4* apartment hotel
I would definetely not recommend this accomodation, because the apartments are just repainted with brown and beige colours but old furniture, bad mattress - I am having huge back pains from it. The bathroom is looking really bad and the water remains in the middle. It is mostly clean but they do sometimes miss some places... also the kitchen is not the best to be used since it is moldy.
overprized, dissapointed : (
Rooms on the web are photoshoped. Furniture old and damaged. Nice grass where is forbiten to walk ?! not a nice place for a family with Children. Night Clunb next to the door with noisy parties on a daily basis. Breakfasts everyday the same. Owners has the dog, his hair everywhere where you seat and eat. At the end owners charge you 10 € / per day for Air Condition. Easy way to get more money from the Tourists. Very dissapointed.
A peaceful little oasis in the madness of Malia
Ok, I admit it, I hadn’t heard of Malia before I booked our week at Danaides but in the months that followed, until our actual stay, I’d actually formulated a bail-out plan. To say the hotel has surpassed our expectations is an understatement. It’s quiet, it’s friendly, the grounds are just stunning and it’s totally family-friendly. Although there is no official parking, the manager went out of her way to ensure we had a safe place to leave our car. The apartments are basic, but very clean and the pool is just perfect. The owners are clearly very proud of the little oasis they have created - there are rules in place but by closing off the pool at 7pm they’re limiting the risk of accidents and broken glass. If you want to stay somewhere where you can do as you please without consideration to other guests there are plenty of other options out there. But if it’s the pictures of the stunning gardens around these apartments that lured you into booking, then accept that in order to keep them looking that beautiful, you won’t be allowed to picnic in the grass 😊 Malia old town of full of lovely restaurants and operates at a very different pace from the Strip - but there are some lovely eateries as you head down towards the beach as well. In short, I feared this would be a disaster. In actual fact it’s been perfect!
An Oasis in the middle of chaos
In order to properly evaluate this place , you have to put it into context. I found the place to be amazing regarding it's localization. It's located in the busy strip of Mália where you go from english running drunk with no shirt to a very calm and peaceful place, with nice decoration and ambient lighting, once you e ter the Hotel. The owner, very nice Lady, has the ambitious job of turning Danaides into a calm place despiste most of her customers are there to party. Saw one guy with open wounds in his face at breakfast calling his family, asking for help. Don't blame her for trying to protect her business while there are obvious rules not beeing followed by partying People. Apart from that, i would only say that the shower could be better protected from water to occupy the whole bathrooms floor. Breakfast was decent although bread could be fresh and not typical toasted bimbo slices. It was easily conpensated by the bottle of Red wine which was waiting for me at my arrival, with an invitation to drink it in the balcony. Class act. It was the night where i slept better in all my stay in Greece.
