An excellent base for a summer or winter holiday

We spent a very happy Christmas and New Year at Finikounda in one of the three Kamelia Studios. The modern studio is extremely clean and equipped with all that is needed for self-catering. The kitchen area has a washing-up sink, fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, pots and pans, glasses, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom has a WC, walk-in shower and wash basin, with radiator and plentiful hot water. There is even a hair drier, an iron and ironing board. The spacious living room is well furnished with a large double bed, a single bed, a settee, dining table + 3 chairs, coffee table, wardrobe/dressing table, bedside cupboards and lamps. There is an outdoor table and chairs on the veranda, with parking space alongside. The double-glazed windows have insect screens and external shutters. The ever-helpful owners, Kamelia and Nikos, really have thought of everything. The extremely reasonable low-season price included electricity, constant hot water, efficient central heating at the flick of a switch, air-con (for summer), reliable WiFi internet and a television with BBC World and Deutsche Welle in English. Bedding and towels are provided and regular cleaning and a change of linen are all part of the service. The studios are in the garden of the owners’ house, on a quiet lane just a 5-minute walk from the centre of the little fishing village and the beach. The local shops include a couple of small supermarkets, a butcher and a pharmacy, as well as a bank machine for cash. Some of the many tavernas are closed in winter but enough remain open to give a good choice of food within walking distance. There are more shops and restaurants, as well as three splendid Venetian castles to explore, in the towns of Methoni (10 km), Koroni (18 km) and Pylos (20 km). The weather in December/January was mild and dry, perfect for walking the beach or cycling round the quiet country lanes. We can recommend Kamelia Studios as an excellent base for a holiday in summer or winter, with everything provided, friendly unobtrusive hosts and real value for money.

Excellent, well priced accommodation - highly recommended!

We visited Finikounda in June 2014 and liked it very much however the hotel we stayed in was a 20+ minute walk away from our favourite beach, Anemomylos. This is too far for us in searing heat and with bad knees! For our return trip in early September 2015 we considered staying at Tsokas for its location however a pool is not important to us. Found Studio Kamelia on Booking.Com and located on Google Earth. The 3 adjoining bungalow style studios are located 50 metres from the quiet main road on a small lane across from a handy mini market which stocked all our essentials including fresh bread delivered at 8.30am daily. The studios each have a very private raised terrace which look out over a pretty garden which gets the sun all day long. Good sunshades are fitted so there's always shade if required. Sleeping up to 3 people in a single and super comfy double bed, our studio was spacious and airy. Very efficient air conditioning and flat screen satellite TV, with BBC World News etc was included in the price. The free wifi was fast and available throughout the property. Good sized bathroom with shower cubicle. Towels and bedding changed twice during our 7 day stay - arrived Sunday and beds/towels changed Tuesday and Friday. Towels sparkly white and fluffy! Bins emptied on cleaning days and we were happy to empty them on the other days ourselves. Excellent kitchen facilities with large fridge/freezer, oven/grill, microwave, kettle, coffee machine and juicer. Enough pans, crockery, cutlery and glasses. Washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels provided. Adequate wardrobe and drawer space with an excellent and well lit mirror. Hair dryer with diffuser provided. Well positioned electric sockets and lights/ lamps. Sofa, table and chairs inside and garden furniture on the balcony. All the windows have adjustable shutters and mosquito blinds, the studios felt very secure. Ample parking for those who have a car. The owners live in a substantial house to the side of the studios but we rarely saw them. When we did they were friendly and helpful. The studios were lovely and quiet even though they were fully occupied for part of our stay and perfectly located for our needs. 5 minute walk to the centre of Finikounda/town beach and a 10 minute stroll to Anemomylos beach. A good taverna,To Palamidi was 300 metres away - great for our first evening after an early start to our journey to Finikounda. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the studios are highly recommend. Excellent value, super clean, comfortable, well maintained accommodation in a good location.

ΕΞΑΙΡΕΤΙΚΟ

αξιζει και με το παραπανω. λιγο εξω απο το κεντρο της φοινικουντας. με δικο του χωρο για παρκινγκ αυτοκινητου. μεγαλο δωματιο με υπερδιπλο κρεβατι συν ενα μονο κρεβατι. μεγαλο ψυγειο, κουζινακι, φουρνο μικροκυματων, νεροχυτη, οικοσυσκευες, εως και σιδεροστρα με σιδερο. ειναι δε το πρωτο δωματιο , στο ντουζ του οποιου τα νερα δεν εβγαιναν εξω απο την καμπινα, ουτε απο το σιφωνι. πραγματικο μαργαριταρι, δεν το περιμενα και το προτεινω ανεπιφυλακτα.

Περάσαμε υπέροχα

Η κυρία Καμελια είναι ωραίος άνθρωπος. Χαμογελαστή και δεν ενόχλησε καθόλου. Είχαμε πάρκινγκ αυτοκινήτου, το διαμέρισμα ήταν άνετο και καθαρό. Βέβαια τα έπιπλα είναι λίγο παλιά αλλά εμάς δεν μας πείραξε καθόλου. Η κουζίνα είχε τα πάντα, καφετιέρα, τοστιέρα, κουζινικα κτλ. Μια χαρά θα ξανά πάμε.
