A feelgood place

It is a very nice place and definitely a reason to come back again. The stuff is exceptionally warm and welcomes you very friendly. The dishes (buffet) and drinks were also very good and delicious. Only the beach could be a bit bigger, and when you prefer a sandy beach it´s not the right place - but intstead the sea is very clean and beautiful. Really a feelgood place.

What a lovely relaxing week in the sun.

I’m a bit late with this review, but as I’m on a roll I’ll get cracking. It had been just over 30 since I was last on the island of Kos, so I was looking forward to visiting again with my partner. The Dimitra seemed to fit all our needs, so a booking was made and we counted down the days. Make no mistake, this spa resort is big! Different types of accommodation in different areas, but we had chosen a junior suite with sea view, and we weren’t disappointed at all. One piece of advice regarding accommodation - if you’re not sure before booking, drop the hotel an email. They’re extremely helpful, and will fulfil your enquiries. With us being 10th to drop off by the transfer bus, we took a taxi which saved a lot of time, and for €50 it was worth every penny as Agios Fokas is out in the sticks. On arrival around 23.00hrs we were greeted by out very friendly receptionist, who explained everything. To note a €4 per day charge was payable - this is something to do with the Hellenic tourist board/Greek government or something like that. A golf buggy arrived to take us to our suite - room 1119, which in reality was 3 mins walk from reception! Food was provided on our arrival in the restaurant, which was enough to tie us over until morning. Dimitra is situated virtually at the end of the main road from Kos Town, so it’s very quiet indeed, and with only the poorly stocked supermarket on the main road, shopping is best done in Kos Town, which is a pleasant 15 minutes on the regular bus service - tickets available at reception for €1.30 single - €1.50 from the bus driver. The food at the Dimitra during all 3 sittings was absolutely superb. Plenty of fresh choices, and live cooking. We couldn’t fault anything. We were also privileged to enjoy 2 courtesy a la carte evenings during our week - one at the traditional Greek Thassala restaurant, the other at the Italian restaurant - the food was to a very high standard on both occasions. The beach is 20 seconds walk down the hill, and is a pebble beach, with the free sun loungers for Dimitra clients to the left. Be careful when entering the sea - the stones are awkward to negotiate in places, but once in I can confirm there is sand is at the bottom of the sea! Swimming is ideal - the sea is almost a flat calm, and very relaxing indeed. We took breakfast at the Thassala restaurant - was easier to walk there from our suite, but the main restaurant is only 3 mins walk and downstairs from reception, and this place can get busy so structure your plans accordingly. Dinner was always at the main restaurant, unless you’re an a la carte that evening, with the Greek food at the Thassala. The bar is lively! Entertainment is brilliant - the Greek night especially was absolutely superb. The music is enchanting, and gave me goosebumps - the tunes played on the Bouzouki are amazing. Drinks are served by the waitresses at your table, but cocktails are premixed - but tasted fine. All spirits were the good stuff, and plenty of choices from the drinks menu. The draught beer - can’t remember what make, but it didn’t do it for me, so it was bottled Mythos at a charge of €3.50. Kos Town is a short seafront bus ride away - everything you could possibly need is there. I highly recommend the municipal market just off the main square - sorry, can’t remember what day it was! Plenty of excellent cafe bars and tavernas along the front, but try the seafood platter at Socrates Taverna….. that was one of the best I’ve ever enjoyed. The harbour is so enjoyable to walk round, with some quite spectacular craft moored, and don’t be alarmed at the Greek Navy presence - they’re happy to talk to you, and their boats have a classic marine engine sound. Boat trips to Bodrum in Turkey run regularly from Kos Town harbour, but it was such a faff on with visas and passports, we gave it a miss, plus I didn’t want to get into my usual Turkey/Cyprus argument…. that’s another story. ALL the hotel staff are absolutely wonderful people, and showed that warm Greek hospitality at every opportunity. Our suite was serviced daily to a very high standard, and that was appreciated. We couldn’t praise the staff enough, and when we presented our lovely room maid with some presents before we departed, she was in tears bless her - cuddles all round….. maybe she was crying with happiness because I was going home - who knows! On the minus side: Too many children running around out of control while the parents were more interested in their own welfare - drinking heavily, and without a care for other guests. I witnessed some absolutely disgusting behaviour from children - one even picking at every bit of food at the breakfast buffet, then spitting out what they didn’t like. This infuriated me, and I spoke to the boys father, who just didn’t care one little bit - kind of shows people’s integrity and levels of decency….. Should this hotel become Adults Only, then I won’t shed a tear - and I genuinely think this will attract better clientele. If you take kids on holiday - at least teach them so basic manners. It’s basically I’ve paid my money and I can do what I want - - that ethos doesn’t wash with me. The outside bar is excellent, as is the seating area - superb views of the sea. A special mention for the wonderful Elena, the guest experience manager. She is the diamond in the crown, and will do absolutely anything to help you! I certainly enjoyed my chats with her… a lovely woman. All in all, a superb week, with superb weather during mid October. Thank you to all at the Dimitra - we will see you soon! I enclose one picture - the stunning sunrise from our balcony, and another of the beach, and one of the outside bar/relaxation area just up the steps from the beach. All rooms are well represented on Jet2’s website, and the same at the Dimitra’s own website. M&A.

The perfect stay at an incredible All inclusive Hotel with 5* Customer service

It was our first time staying at Dimitra and certainly won’t be our last… this place now holds such a special place in mine and my fiancés hearts! We’ve both stayed at numerous tui sensima (now tui blue ) all inclusive hotels and although this isn’t a tui blue the level of service that you receive from the staff at Dimitra is the same if not another level. No request or question is ever too much for them and they will always go out their way to ensure your experience is fulfilled. One man in particular George exceptionally excels at making this so and if you haven’t met him before then you must make sure you do before you leave. George the main restaurant Maitre D’ is a credit to the hotel and will go that extra step to make sure your stay is relaxed, special and fun. He played a huge part in helping me plan my engagement proposal to my now fiancé, making the whole process run so smoothly and in such a truly romantic way with the help of one of his top waitresses Tereza who helped with the preparations of setting the table on the beach and ensuring candles were lit, taking photos of the whole experience. The food and the drinks that are on offer at the main restaurant buffet offer a great variety and are changed daily. As well as having the option to visit the al la carte Greek and Italian restaurants. A few members of staff stood out to us and offered amazing service: Stelios, George Dogras and Tereza. Lastly the cleaning staff do not stop working ! They literally clean all day from the crack of dawn and into the evening. The hotel was immaculate. There was a great selection of pool areas, seating areas or access to the private beach. There was always space and wasn’t too crowded. There is a bus stop outside the hotel which took you into Kos and only took around 15minutes. The hotel itself is in a quiet location which we preferred. Overall, a superb holiday and very good weather for the end of September into October 2022. If you get a chance you must do the volcano excursion that tui offer. A very busy day but you visit some beautiful towns.
