Relaxing quiet hotel
This is a small family run hotel whose aim is to provide a relaxing stay. They succeed. Exceptionally clean. Very quiet. Fantastic location, breakfasts, pool and grounds. Nice rooms. Functional. Very powerful shower. Great food at the taverna on the beach. 20 minute walk into Molyvos, but worth the walk. Taxi 5 euro. Shuttle bus also an option, but last return is 10pm. Pool was never overcrowded during our stay (July) and local children at the weekends just added atmosphere. The beach is natural, clean with clear water, but can be hard underfoot. The staff including owners really make you feel welcomed and are genuinely friendly. Would recommend and hope to maybe return again at some time in the future.
Hidden Gem of Lesbos.
We travelled as a family of six, stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks early August via Thomas Cook. Located in the North of the Island transfers take circa 2/2.5hrs private taxi approx 1hr, if I were to do same again then hire a car or private taxi both ways. We booked two rooms, suite on 1st floor and deluxe room on the ground floor. The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning, under-counter sized fridge, small safe, suite has two small balconies open plan design, we didn’t watch TV so can’t comment on BBC channels like other reviews :) rooms are cleaned daily. Breakfast is a good selection of fruit, cakes, bread and hot food (eggs & bacon), the Greek yoghurt is heavenly. It’s nice to sit outside shaded by the grapevines. The pool is a good size, sun-beds are huge and comfortable, on certain days the pool gets busy with local families typically Wednesdays & Sundays afternoons; generally, owners welcome everyone, hotels are open to all in the summer, you have some options to visit other hotels and use their facilities. The locals provided support when the Islands tourism dropped; why ask them to stop now.. The guys who work at the taverna are fantastic; Ignatios, both Vassilis and Panagiotis anything is possible, the food served is excellent. All the staff work so hard and give ‘best in class’ service. Prices are reasonable for drinks and food, in-fact prices are generally good on the island. You get the feeling many people return to the hotel every year and meet and gage long-lasting friendships whereabouts the hotel acts as a central point, the invitation is open to all. Everyone returns with their own story and is friendly, is nice to hear and share experiences of previous visits. Like many family-run hotels don’t expect to hear music; it drowns the sound of the waves and laughter around the taverna. There are no animations for the children, you don’t need it… The sea view from the taverna and small stone beach is truly amazing watching sunsets; gives off a real feeling of calm and tranquillity whilst sipping the best Ouzo. There is a transit van which ferries people to and from the town a few times per day just outside the hotel. Having the Aegean sea on your doorstep is a big benefit, the sunsets are the best you will ever see. If you’re seeking a relaxing time, visit this hotel you will not be disappointed, it ticks almost every box, sea, sun, food, drinks, quality service, nice memories, people, friendships, We hired a car for three days and travelled out few times, Skala Eresou, Skala Sykaminia & Petra. Its traditional Greece with no commercial or corporate enterprises hopes it stays this way. We felt the hotel appreciates their guests, the owners make time to talk and welcome you all in, It's like your part of their extended family, don’t receive this level of gratitude with larger hotels. We will back, I hope so…. we like to visit different places however this hotel and area has something very special to say… Efharisto
We spent an enjoyable week here. The room was bright and comfortable; the staff very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was small, but had a shower, hand basin and toilet. Shower gel provided and hand soap, but no shampoo or other toiletries. The room was kept exceptionally clean. We loved the pool, but be aware that on one day it was extensively used by locals - 35 children in the pool. The beach area is accessible next to the taverna with beautifully clear water; it is however exceedingly tough to get into the sea as it is very slippery and rocky. The beach would benefit from a jetty to allow people to get in and out. It is a pebble beach not sandy. The sunsets viewed across the sea are spectacular as the sun goes down. The owners are wonderful and engage with you really well, giving you information about the area. The walk to the castle is up a steep hill, challenging but rewarding, from there you walk down the steps through the beautiful cobbled streets of Molyvos. Breakfast was good with a choice of food; eating on the terrace is lovely. The lady at breakfast was super friendly. The minibus from the hotel is great, we used it to go into the town in the evening and then walked back when it was cooler. In the sun it is a challenging walk of about 30 minutes. The little train that goes from Molyvos harbour, to the castle and then Petra is brilliant - €7 hop on hop off. Thanks to everyone at the hotel; we have made some super memories.
Don't expect to get a good nights sleep.
On our 3rd day of staying here and while the hotel itself is very clean and the staff are pleasant, don't expect to get to sleep anytime before 1am and expect to be woken up by 7am. The noise created by other guests is appalling. The walls are paper thin and every noise is audible. Constant slamming of doors, dragging furniture along the floor and screaming children in the corridors. Honestly, I've had better sleep in Kavos. Again, this is no critisism of the hotel owners but we come on holiday to relax, that is the last thing you can do after 4 hours sleep. Unfortunately, while the hotel itself is lovely and the extras like free air con, safe and Netflix on the room tv are great, we wouldn't choose to stay here again, sorry.
Relaxation, high standards and great people
From the moment we arrived (free bottle of water and arranged a Greek salad in the taverna post 10 p.m.) the very high standards and customer care were in evidence. This hotel has a wonderful setting, is very clean and well run, has a lovely pool area and a great taverna, serves really nice breakfasts and, the icing on the cake, have genuinely warm people as staff who can't do enough to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Our room was small but had just what you need to have a comfortable stay and the standards of cleanliness were very high (the room maids are incredibly friendly too and always have a cheery Kalimera! for you). Breakfasts (probably because we always got up at peak time) were busy and the staff were even more so but they never lost their smile or standards of service and one in particular (I think the lady's name was Katerina) was simply tremendous in what she achieved each day. The guy who cleaned the pool always had a cheery wave or Kalimera for you and he did a great job of making the pool area safe and clean. I think the people who we interacted most with though were the waiters at the taverna who were just brilliant. Massive thank you to Ingatis, the two Vasillis's (Vasilii?) and Panagotis....with the lady who worked in the taverna kitchens needing mention here too as she was warm and generous as well as an excellent cook! We ate at the taverna a lot and the standard of food as well as the portions was excellent. Watching the sunsets from the taverna was simply a joy. Mythimna / Molyvos is a gorgeous town and is a short walk or taxi ride (5 Euros one way during our stay); the harbour area is amazing to eat at and the restaurant standards are high. We saw a great deal of the island (as we'd hired a car) and I'd recommend doing the same. Places to see would be Skala Eresou, Skala Sykaminia, Karini, Agiasos, and Skalochori but there are loads of other places worth seeing. The only mildly negative thing I'd say about the hotel though is the lack of music. I understand that the hotel wants to help people have peace but, at times, the taverna and inner bar areas lack 'character' and atmosphere without some form of background soundtrack. I'm not suggesting 'banging tunes' here or high volumes, just laid back or local music so it can be heard around and not above conversation. Overall though, a wonderful place that we'd happily visit again....that's the hotel, Molyvos and Lesvos. Thank you!
