Ekerum in the fall
We were staying for couple of days. The place is general ok and perhaps due to the low season being now. However the price more or less being for a quality you don’t get. Pizza place in the facility is great and offers topp quality pizza. We didnt try the restaurant except the breakfast which was ok but not great. We didn’t try the activities as golf, mountain bike etc as the weather was rough. Spa facilities and gym are available for those who like to try out but we didn’t thought to be worth the money. Cleanness of the apartment floors are low standard but ok. The apartment we were staying at had a bad smell in general which should be amended. The space were more than satisfactory and the beds comfortable. The view was also very good and over the golf course area. It is a shame that it is not offered and good TV channels and the wifi connection come and goes.. The staff are friendly but seems like not getting proper introduction to the work as we received different information from them ,,,which costed us both time and also missing stuff which we had planned for during our short stay. Also no excuse or anything else in return was offered. When we
Pretty dismal overall experience
Nicely located with view towards the mainland and easily accessible from Kalmar. But a pretty dismal experience overall. Cheaply built rooms and apartments, restaurant not impressive, no good bar, service limited and grumpy, and not much of a golf club even if the two courses are nicely laid out and challenging. Would not recommend for a golf outing.
Good views, good food
The hotel is nice for the price class that you may expect. Staff is considerate in our experience, food is also good. The hotel is sustainability oriented, though more could be done. More organic food would be nice, for example. But, a place recommended!
3-star hotel with higher ambitions in need of renovation
First of all, this is mainly a golf resort for middle aged people. The golf courses are great from what I can tell (not being a golfer myself) so my conclusion after spending 5 days at this resort is that the focus is on the golf part - and not on the hotel part itself. The golf courses attract guests no matter the standard of the rooms. That is the only reasonable explanation I can find to the low standards of the rooms (comfort and premium rooms, the 4 suites in the main building are hopefully in a much better shape). The room is more in the style of a hostel than a hotel. Very very basic and plain - and old. They claim to have ’newly renovated’ the comfort rooms but what they have done is to remove the stove and the fridge and closed all the kitchen cabinetts. So you are left with a relic of a kitchen that is not possible to use - except for the tap of running water. This looks and feels very weird! If you want to remove the kitchen, fine - but remove it all! Don’t leave it looking like a kitchen without a stove and fridge and cabinetts that are impossible to open. Very strange decision... Be aware that the bathrooms have not been renovated! If a nice bathroom is important you must specifically ask for a room with a renovated bathroom (I did that but apparently there are no comfort rooms with renovated bathrooms). The bathrooms are very old and basic. The shower was not clean and there was a bad smell. The toilet paper is the cheapest and hardest 1-layer paper you can find and the soap (both in the shower and sink) is the hospital-like wall mounted dispensers. This bathroom was very uncomfortable and did not provide any hotel feeling at all. The beds are fine, although the bedrooms very small. Bags and luggage can be kept in the livingroom/former kitchen as this area is pretty big. The breakfast buffet is ok, pretty basic but with everything you need. But nothing extra. The Corona actions are very few and not very logical. Guests are to take cheese and ham with their own fork, but for the rest of the buffet it is ok to use the same utensils. I tried to understand the logic of this during the first two breakfast but then I gave up (noone could provide a reasonable answer). And naturally I used my own fork for all the food on the buffet. The dinner is high quality and is probably the best part of this place (if you are not a golfer). Some dishes are better than others but the ambition is there. The service is uneven with lots of unexperienced young people (summer workers most likely). The padel courses (3) are very popular so make sure to book your slot well in advance. Tennis court times are much easier to book with short notice. All-in-all: the hotel rooms are barely 3 star class, the food and facilities are 4-star. If/when the hotel rooms - including the bathrooms! - are renovated I would return.
Recently stayed here. Lovely facilities / food etc. Nice golf courses - has two courses plus a driving range. Friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Only negative is the size of the beds. Would very much recommend.
