Winter Stay

On arrival very disappointed with room, visited reception and met Claude (?) a very capable lady who found us a different room in much better condition. Very professional and helpful. On the whole a few issues but generally a very enjoyable stay (Some very good and reasonably priced restaurants within easy distance)

Nice hotel, friendly staff

The man on reception when we checked in was lovely and friendly, the cleaning lady was always smiling, the restaurant staff always seemed happy (especially the one man who was lovely with everyone) even when some of the guests left their tables in a terrible mess! (there really is no need to be like that) we always managed to get across what we wanted/needed they spoke/understood more English than i did Spanish! the rooms were a good size, the hotel was clean the pool area was nice though we only sat out there twice as we were out exploring most days, Loro Parque is a must if you come here, we were there all day took in 3 shows, sea lions, dolphins and orca as well as all the other animals etc and we didn't manage to get round it all, i would definitely take up the offer of the second visit cheaper if you were to go, there is a free train that takes you and drops you back. Overall Puerto del a Cruz is a quiet place, there are lots of shops, restaurants etc, if you want a quiet holiday this is the place for you.

The worst 4 star hotel i have ever stayed in, room was dirty with mould around the bath mirrors had not been cleaned dust everywhere, you have to pay extra for the room safe,£18 per week, no tea or coffee in room. food was very mundane and the same every day Christmas day gala buffet, was the same as all the other days drab and cold pool bar was the only place to get a drink during the day , no escape from smokers and pol area was in the shade all day and water freezing, in all a crap hotel

I want to be careful about how I word this because it’s not all negative. However, we paid over £2,500 for this, albeit, last minute all-inclusive **** Holiday and **** It was not. We arrived on New Year’s Eve and the Grand Dinner was lovely. We went to the bar and ordered some wine which I can only describe as “petrol”. We then had some “cava” which was 5% cheap plonk. The main bartender I can only describe as “rude”. Thereafter we chose to have a light breakfast with orange juice and coffee. We ate lunch elsewhere and had a light meal in the evening back at the hotel. We bought our nice wine from the supermarket and chilled it in our tiny fridge. The best entertainment was on the roof opposite with live music each night leading up to the Spanish Christmas of the Epiphany. I said it’s not all negative and it wasn’t. The restaurant staff are lovely and one even saved me from a stray pigeon who got into the breakfast room - I have a phobia- and each time I saw him after that, he was very pleasant. As someone experienced in hospitality and delivering hospitality courses, I would suggest that whoever responds to this receives the criticism as constructive in order to save your hotel’s reputation. Not one person I spoke to, and there were a few, said they would return.

Definitely not 4 star

Not sure where to start. Arrived Xmas eve at 1005 pm. Told we couldn’t get a drink or food as everything closed at 10. All we wanted was a bottle of water. After raiding the vending machine we went to our rooms. Went to breakfast in Xmas morning and it was pretty shocking. Unless you like cold eggs, cold bacon and salad. The staff really don’t seem to like the English and are not helpful and certainly not polite apart from the odd one who would force a smile occasionally. The entertainment was pretty non existent and occasionally there would be a young man parading by the pool asking if you wanted to partake in aqua aerobics in the pool which was so cold there was every chance of a heart attack before it even started. Funnily enough not person took part. The hotel is very dated, very tired and very boring. On the plus side the beds were comfortable. Would I return….no. Would I recommend……no.
