Spectacular!
We have just returned from a fabulous week at Royal River, and it was everything we could have hoped for: luxurious, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in a one bedroomed river villa which was extremely comfortable and had a huge living room, bedroom and bathroom, and a very large terrace. The room was equipped with a wine fridge, good sized minibar (with plenty of room for your own drinks), microwave, Lavazza coffee machine, kettle, microwave, drinking glasses, and a few bowls/plates and a bit of cutlery. The outdoor terrace was nothing short of spectacular, with lots of choice for lounging/sitting, and options in both the sun and the shade. We were lucky to get sun on the terrace from about 11 in the morning until the end of the day. There was also a small roof terrace with sunbeds and a view over the golf course and out to sea. The plunge pool was just amazing, and it was wonderful to be able to swim out of it and down the river, or up to the jacuzzi. I was surprised how much privacy the terrace offered (despite the river running past), so it felt very private and secluded, and the curtains edging the roofed area offered additional privacy. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice and a great selection of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, bread, pastries, cakes, juices, and hot and cold savoury items. There is also cava available at breakfast every day, which is a wonderful treat! There was also the option to order breakfast items too, but we were never told of the existence of a menu (or offered one) so don’t know what else was available. We ate dinner at the hotel a couple of times, and the food was nice but we found it extremely expensive and the vegetarian options were fairly unimaginative (e.g. vegetable stir fry, vegetable biryani, pasta with sun dried tomatoes) so most evenings we walked the 1.5 miles into La Caleta where there was more choice (and better value). There are no paper menus in the hotel’s restaurants - instead you are given a Perspex cube with a QR code on it. Although I’m perfectly comfortable doing this, it was a bit of a faff, and I would have preferred having a paper menu to look at. I used the gym most days and found it had everything I needed - a bike, two treadmills and a cross trainer, some dumbbells, fitballs and a couple of weight machines. It’s not very big so they have a maximum capacity of four people and you do need to book a slot. I would have liked to have had cleaning spray/wipes in the gym to clean down the equipment after I’d used it. We also used the spa which was a large, beautiful and relaxing space. The steam room, sauna and indoor pool are available to guests free of charge (and well worth a visit - especially the shower with the cold bucket of water!) but again you need to book. The service from our wonderful housekeeper and reception staff were second to none - friendly and attentive without being intrusive or obsequious, and we mainly communicated with reception via WhatsApp, which was extremely quick and convenient. The whole hotel is beautifully designed with wonderful decor and incredible attention to detail. There are plants everywhere, so the whole place feels like a lush green oasis and most of the time the only noise we could hear was birdsong. It’s a perfect spot for an escape from the British winter - we’ll definitely return!
PARADISE
PARADISE!! We have just returned from a 10 night stay at this beautiful hotel. Thank you Lydia and Daniella and ALL your wonderful staff for looking after us so well. We arrived exhausted and left feeling we were floating on cloud 9! Everyone went out of their way and more to make this one of the best holidays we have had. We will be returning to our 'new home' later on in the year and can't wait!! Huge hugs to you all :-)

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel!
From the minute we arrived we just relaxed and realised we were in for a treat .. we had a two bedroom villa with an enormous terrace .. it was decorated beautifully.. we had a pool which led to the river pool which we swam in every morning.. the breakfast was fabulous and all the restaurants were great! .. all the staff we came into contact with were so polite and professional especially the lady from the spa and the breakfast team … we were very sad to leave and are planning our next trip to this hotel very soon .. thank you for the most enjoyable stay!!
Slice of Paradise
This was our first holiday for more than 3 years, with COVID and personal issues keeping us “locked down” for longer than we had expected Getting ready for the break we felt like newbies despite having been lucky enough to visit many luxury hotels in the past and were quite anxious about what we may find on arrival in a foreign country once more We were recommended to consider this hotel by our regular holiday operator, #ElegantResorts, and they have NEVER let us down, but we were still surprised by what we found A serene enclave where all the staff are clearly proud of the hotel and their work, and truly happy to make their guests know that nothing is too much trouble The hotel was awarded THE BEST HOTEL IN SPAIN last year and it truly deserves the tag with a style and panache rarely found The quiet, and discrete rooms mean that you are practically in your own little private garden of Eden The design of the hotel estate is inspired creating novel experiences with the “rivers”, pools and “lagoon”; the design of the whole is rich with beautiful details and design, from the sculptures concealing the loudspeakers which provide the gentle music at breakfast, to the stone reliefs on the walls to the villas which are gently shaded to provide respite from the hottest sun We were lucky enough to enjoy a Grand Pool Villa overlooking the view across the golf course down to the sea, and we frankly for most of the day we didn’t want to leave the villa! When you do explore the rest of the hotel yet more treats await The spa transports you to another level of consciousness, and my wife and I felt we have never felt SO good after our treatments, and my wife especially has had many good treatments in many hotels The decor throughout the hotel has obviously been carefully considered and the whole is a tour de force of interior design which encompasses the building, furnishings and even the linen napkins Food in the restaurants is exquisite and beautifully presented The Flamingo and Kokoro restaurants offer menus themed around French and Asian cuisine respectively… wow the experience of these menus will live in our minds for a very long time! We enjoyed our time so much whilst we were there we booked to come back later this year, and we can’t wait!
