Disappointing Villa and not 5 star
We stayed in a 3 bedroom villa for 12 days. 2 adults, 2 twenty year old and 9 & 11 year olds. Booked on the premise of 5* Villa in a resort setting. The resort complex is nice (not brilliant), staff were friendly and there is a little shop - no bottles of water in it when we arrived which was poor. The villa itself was a 3 * villa at best. Kitchen really old fashioned and bathrooms not very good at all. Radiators covered in rust. We were genuinely disappointed with the Villa. The pool was good, clean and well looked after. The Villas are c15 years old and it shows. The suites, further up the hill, are new and looked good. Restaurant in resort quite good, yet service was very slow due to lack of staff. The staff themselves very friendly. Tsivili Itself will be very marmite. It is touristy, though not in a kiss me quick way. We found the majority of the restaurants ok and The Olive Garden food is very good. The resort is a 15 min walk into town. It is a pleasant walk down even on a summer evening. We caught cabs back in the evening and they were fine. €6 was the fare. We had a great holiday due to the fact that we rented a car and visited many of the beaches and restaurants around the Island. Do this and you will have a great time. There is a hotel c75m up the hill from St. John’s that is truly 5*. Min age is 15 so very much adults only. It is a different class to St. John’s.
Fabulous Hotel / Great Staff
Just got back last week from this fabulous hotel. We stayed in suite 102, a Deluxe Suite with sea view, private pool and terrace. The view from our terrace was absolutely stunning and the room was large, comfortable and very modern. The room was kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeper and both bath and pool towels were changed every day. The food was excellent, especially the breakfasts which are huge with plenty of variety. Nick, who served us breakfast every day gets a special thank you, as does Nikos who served us dinner in the main Villa Restaurant. In fact all the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. The suites are located at the top of the hill at the highest point of the resort, but this is not a problem as the hotel staff run a small shuttle buggy at any time of the day to ferry you back to your suite after a meal or after returning from a trip to Town. The walk down to Town is a very pleasant 10 minute stroll down a lane through Olive groves. The return back up the hill is a bit more strenuous but it's easy to get a taxi which cost us 6 euros. We had a lovely holiday and would just like to say thank you St John Resort Hotel. Peter and Fran
We returned last week from these amazing suites, what a fantastic holiday. Views from the suites and restaurant are spectacular! Spotlessly clean accomodation, bath towels and lounger towels changed daily. The staff could not do more to make your visit special. Nick our waiter has to get a personal thank you, such a professional and very high standards. The breakfasts are out of this world! Great Wi-Fi signal. Walk down to the restaurant and shops is between 5 and 10 minutes but easily done, yes st Johns is on a hill but that's what gives you the best views. We'll definately be back.
When we first arrived, I felt a little disappointed by our lack of view. But when you look from out terrace upstairs, it’s stunning. The villa itself is compact. We stayed in villa Ivy, which is right next to the reception. The villa itself was spotlessly key clean. Housekeeping came in everyday, replacing towels and bath mats etc. The people however are the winning feature for me. All pleasant and helpful. We ate in the onsite cafe/restaurant a few times and were never disappointed. The fact that you can have room service to your villa was an absolute winner for me.
My husband and I came to stay at a villa at St John's for our two-week honeymoon. We had a wonderful stay at Tulip Villa and enjoyed every minute of it! We were allocated a three bedroom villa which had more room than we needed but it wasn't a problem for us! We spent quite a lot of time at the villa, choosing to go to the beach and on days out every other day so we stayed at the villa for most of our honeymoon. The pool was lovely. We spent a lot of time sitting outside reading and relaxing and the occasional dip in the pool when it got too hot was perfect. The hotel staff are very helpful and professional. We treated ourselves to room service on a few occasions and meals were delivered to the villa in a timely fashion with a friendly smile to boot. The food at the restaurant was outstanding in our opinion. The chef did a marvellous job - each meal that we had there was delicious and filling. Truly our favourite restaurant of the whole holiday! Waiters, Nick and Mike were very friendly and looked after us each and every time we visited. Food was enjoyed looking at the lovely view out to sea - perfect. The walk back up the hill to the hot3el from Tsilivi resort is not for the faint-hearted (like me)! We generally made sure we had £6 to catch a taxi back home. All in all, our stay at St John's was perfect - we couldn't have asked for anything more. Thanks go to all the staff for looking after us so well. We will be back.
