Paradise is not lost it’s at La Flora 🏝️
Our first visit to Khao Lak but 6th to Thailand. La Flora is one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in. From the first moment we arrived at reception and had a welcome drink and checked in we felt welcome. We had booked transport to and from the hotel through the hotel website and it collected us on time and got us there in really good time. We checked in shortly after2 and stayed in room 8115, a seaside pool access room. The room was spectacular, immaculate and spacious. The bed was huge and the access to the pool just made the holiday. Our room got the sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon which was perfect. A full size fridge where we were able to make ice and filled it with drinks from the flora mini shop. The shop next to reception was actually the cheapest place to buy cans of drinks - Tbht20 The pool was out of this world. The first week we were up early to get a poolside bed or sun lounger as there were a number of families up at dawn to reserve lots of them together. The second week there were still beds there at 9am. I wasn’t keen on the beds on the sand as not a massive beach lover but the beds and sun loungers were great. The poolside bar also has tables where you can sit and eat lunch with your feet in the water. Drinks were from 120-240 for smoothies and fruit juices/ cocktails. We had satay, spring rolls and burgers at lunch by the pool and all were great. More expensive than outside but were great tasting and you’d expect the hotel food to cost more. Housekeeping was brilliant, every day they were in checking our towels were fresh, bringing in bottles of water and generally tidying up. Everyone was so friendly when walking around. We didn’t eat in at night as so many amazing restaurants locally but we came back one night and there was a fire show on the beach and the music always sounded great from our room. We booked a Wow andaman tour to Similan islands through the hotel which was great. I had a coconut oil massage in the spa that was out of this world, yes you can get cheaper massages outside the hotel but if you want the spa experience this is incredible. Walking distance to the market, the Tsunami memorial and loads of restaurants. Our favourite was Mail although Tuk tuk, Siam, Thai corner were all great. We absolutely loved our stay and were devastated when it was time to leave. Already looking at dates for next year to return. We had planned on somewhere else but this was so incredible I need to come back. Other trips we booked and reviews left for Ning’s cooking class (amazing!) and Khu Khaolak Lake visit(brilliant)
Loved our stay at La Flora.
Amazing stay at La Flora. We were only at the hotel 3 days but we absolutely loved it. The property is lovely, the water in both the sea and the pool was clean and incredibly warm and the breakfast was one of the best we have had in over 40 years of travel. It was a short walk to shops and restaurants. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant one night and we had a table right on the beach. The food was amazing. We both had fish and it was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed watching the sunset every night listening to the entertainment which was also right on the beach. One of the nights the hotel had a guest appreciation event with complimentary light snacks, sangria along with the entertainment also at sunset which was lovely. Our only regret was that we had not booked a longer stay.
Lovely hotel in great location
It was our third visit to Khao Lak and this time we stayed at La Flora. The hotel is in a great location situated directly on the beach as well as walking distance to bars and restaurants. We stayed in a beachfront swim out room which was lovely and spacious, with a large bed, two sink bathroom with electronic wc. There was a full size fridge as well as coffee making facilities. The room was kept spotlessly clean by housekeeping who always had a smile on their face. The terrace outside had enough room for two loungers and a parasol and it got the sun most of the day. The foliage and trees around the pool area did cause a lot of leave in the pool but this couldn't be helped. The food was really good and as it was Chinese New Year we went to the special buffet. It was lovely with a lot of choice. The breakfast was good, again with a good selection of hot and cold food. The staff were helpful and friendly. All in all this is a lovely hotel and would recommend it. The only thing i didn't like was the beach chairs were crammed together. We didn't use them as had a swim out room but looking at them whilst we were eating, they didn't look much room between them.
