Tre uker her på Sonesta Inns.

Well-made Quiet Resort with Service Issues

Sonesta Inn by all means would be a perfect place to stay during peak season. Tucked away in a corner of Candolim with direct access to the beach and a decently sized swimming pool in the middle, the resort has everything one can ask for. We had booked the place for two days and extended our stay for one more day after our daughter fell sick. The rooms are spacious with modern design. Very clean and have great balconies overlooking the pool. We stayed in luxury rooms which were great but not too expensive. What I liked about the room was the wood-glass doors across the wall leading to the balcony that allows ample light to come in the room and gives you a good view even when you are sitting on the bed. I have seen many resorts, which are very well made but get poor natural light. The food is decent but a bit more of goan stuff would be nice. The breakfast spread is also fairly ecclectic and nothing to complain about. The hotel, however, needs better managers and front desk people. Barring two women on the front desk, who were excellent and always ready to extend all kinds of help, the men mostly rattled off myriad rules the resort had when you sought any help. It was quite annoying in an otherwise good resort. Our duaghter, a four year old, is used to drinking Amul Milk. ON the first day when she refused to drink the hotel milk because she did not like the taste, I requested the hotel if they could provide Amul milk for which I would pay. The man on the front desk just refused. I requested that this was for my child and if he could send someone to fetch some milk from any nearby shop. It was night already and we were very tired. The man told us: "Sir, the hotel rules do not allow us to venture out no matter what the emergency." "Is this a hotel or a prison?" I asked. "A prison." he replied. I had to finally go outside and get milk for my daughter even as a big signage at the resort gate read: "Outside eatables and drinks not allowed." I also asked for room slippers. The man said no sir we do not provide room slippers. I asked him: "What kind of resort does not provide room slippers. They cost not more than 30 rupees. Are you expecting your guests to carry room slippers from home. This is a resort right? Not a lodge." He politely said, "Sir, there are no such provisions here." The next day, because of the swimming pool water having too much chlorine, I partially lost sight in my eyes. The hotel front desk, this time being managed by two women, was attentive to my distress and helped me with information on where to get medical care. They also provided me room slippers!!! At the breakfast table, which is the normal buffet, I had served myself everything I needed and begun eating. I realised I need some juice and asked a staff, who was standing idle doing nothing as there were hardly any guests (only two tables were occupied), to get me a glass of juice. "Sorry sir, this is buffet. We dont serve." Unbelievable! I am widely travelled. Have stayed in the best and worst of hotels across India and abroad. Have never had an experience like that. All hotels have buffet breakfast. But if you have started eating and you need something in the middle, they always serve. By the way, the juice was pathetic with too much sugar. Common guys, at least serve some fresh juices in breakfast buffet. All in all, if they can better train their staff and behave like a resort than a lodge, I would recommend it as a great place to stay in Goa.

Hotel staff totally careless

Sometimes bad things happpen at a good places.this place is nicely located near the candolim beach.the room is good.this only bad thing is hotel staff's attitude. now i booked this hotel for my family and we were having a good time at the pool when suddenly i felt a prick in my hand.when i noticed i was bleeding profusely.the reason was the pools edge tiles were broken and sharp.i had a bad cut and when i informed the manager about the incident,he said the hotel will repair the pool after 2 weeks because the hotel was fully booked.now my question was why did they opened the pool to the guests when they know that the pool was not safe.secondly why are they taking bookings when the pool is not safe, they are playing with customers safety not me only but my son and other guests also suffered injury.my advice is beware of these kind of hotels where customers safety is not hotels concern and when they dont do anything needful even if someone gets hurt.
