Believe the bad reviews

This Hotel doesn't live up to its reputation or the hype surrounding it. Please believe the reviews describing it as overrated. A restaurant that everyone says is delicious but which really is just OK and a breakfast offering cold bacon and eggs just isn’t worthy of 3 stars let alone 5. Service and housekeeping deserve 5 stars and they have some well trained staff, but this doesn’t make up for all the other faults. Most 5 star establishments are not situated in a run-down scruffy area opposite a fish market with a scrap-yard at the rear (see pics). They usually provide complementary water in the mini-bar (we had none for a week), top of the range toiletries in the bathroom and a sizable balcony. The manager's response to bad reviews usually begin with "Sorry for not meeting your expectations to the highest level". He needs to visit some real 5 star Hotels to compare this overrated place with. We have stayed at 5 star hotels all over the world and this is the worst. We will NOT be giving it a second change to change our opinion.

First for the positives; this is a lovely, friendly hotel in a great location for access to beautiful Skiathos Town, however, vastly over-rated at 5*. The hotel is very aesthetically pleasing and especially pretty when lit in the evenings. The staff are very friendly, however, not very receptive when given any negative feedback! The rooms are nice enough and are cleaned daily to a good standard. Our room was at the back of the hotel and looked out onto rough ground which I felt could have been given some more attention to provide a slightly more pleasant outlook if we're to describe this as 5*. The pool area is lovely, if a little small and probably doesn’t have enough beds for the number of guests. Bed reserving is alive and kicking here! You will need to be up early and before breakfast begins at 7:30 and even then will find it difficult to get a bed on the front row in the sun. The beds have nice thick mattresses and I found them to be quite comfortable, however much of the pool area is in the shade for most of the morning. The breakfast is one of the worst I have had abroad recently. The choice and quality are poor and much of the food is left uncovered and open to the flies. The choice was limited unless you like an array of cake choices! The coffee is put on a table in flasks and was mostly barely warm, and decidedly tepid once milk was added as this too was served cold. During our stay we heard many conversations regarding the poor quality of the breakfast and a number of these were directed to the staff and subsequently certain small changes could be seen, for example; For much of our stay the only fruit option was ‘tinned peaches’, later a very small amount of fresh fruit appeared but this looked ‘brown’ and unappetising and had clearly been prepared well in advance. Similarly, during the first few days the only bread option was ‘sliced bread’ and later in the holiday an amount of ‘better quality’ uncut bread was added to the buffet. On one occasion in my desperation for a hot cup of coffee I asked for a fresh flask to be brought straight from the kitchen, but despite taking advantage of this immediately it was still barely warm! We usually like to have a bite to eat around the pool at lunchtime accompanied by a nice cold beer, however, the menu was extremely limited and the local beer was both flat and warm. When we mentioned this to the waitress we were given a lengthy explanation about some problem that they'd encountered, however nothing changed and we started to take a walk out at lunchtime to a lovely little traditional place just a few minutes away where we were served delicious food and fabulous ice cold beer! Overall, a nice hotel and an enjoyable stay but some basic standards have been given less consideration than the aesthetics!!!

Lovely friendly hotel

This is a lovely adults only hotel in a great location. Skiathos town is one of the most beautiful and charming greek places to visit. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. Everyone from reception to bar to restaurant to housekeeping are friendly and efficient. Victoria, Denny, Mel, George and Seraina were especially great. They made it a pleasure to stay there. Rooms are ok although could do with more drawers for clothes. The sunbeds are great but the pool area isn't huge so there is the usual scramble to get the front row beds by around 0730 am. The back row is unfortunately in the shade for the whole morning, but if the greenery was cut back slightly, that would improve the situation. Only other improvement could be to have better choice of lunchtime snacks. Although these are minor improvements that could be made, we would not hesitate to return.

Second time, I have stayed here, some 3 years ago before covid, it was 100 out of 100 then, but now its beyond that The food, rooms staff absolutely magnificent, two in particular were Heppy and cristous, on reception, as I say from the guy who does the laundry to the top, brilliant , nothing was too much trouble. Certainly, going back again, recommend to anyone, you will NOT be disappointed. Again, thank you very much for your help in making our holiday outstanding John Mansford 16th June 2022

Great hotel

La Piscina is a great hotel, beautiful rooms and bathrooms. The staff are really friendly and helpful especially Deppy on reception and Tre on the bar. The pool is a very relaxing space. I would definitely go back
