Perfect Skiathos- almost perfect hotel
Lovely hotel, very clean, beautiful gardens all maintained beautifully. The pool area was lovely with complimentary towels and plenty of sunny and shady areas. You have to pay 10€ deposit to take 2 towels to the beach which is refunded on return. We had a deluxe room in the new white block which was obviously new and modern only draw back was the lack of storage! No wardrobe just a track with 4 hangers - luckily I brought some of my own hangers and only 2 drawers! This isn’t enough especially when your staying for 10,11 or 14 days also no bed side drawers only tables which were very low - it was a struggle in the night trying to find my bottle of water it was just very impractical. Also no separate bathroom the shower cubicle in the corner of the room .The toilet was separate but not very hygienic as the hand basin is in the bedroom which isn’t good when you need to wash your hands after using the loo. Our friends were next door to us which was great but their room was worse than ours for storage as they didn’t have any drawers at all and lived out of their suitcases for 11 days. Also take coffee and t- bags as they don’t supply it. There’s a supermarket where you can buy everything near by .We bought all our water from there and kept it in the fridge . The breakfasts were great. Plenty of choices. Fruit ,cereal, yoghurts, jams and hot food too eg.. eggs bacon sausage etc… The fresh squeezed orange juice is lovely. The breakfast room was lovely and you can eat outside too. We didn’t have a meal in the hotel but did have lunch time snacks which were nice, The drinks are a bit pricey and the cocktails aren’t very good and in our opinion very overpriced. We loved Skiathos and loved the village of Koukounaries. The beach is stunning! Clean and lovely golden sand and the sea is so still and beautiful you would think you were in the Caribbean. There’s some lovely restaurants and bars nearby which weren’t too expensive. We spent about 50€ for a meal with drinks usually a carafe of wine and a few beers. Skiathos town is about 20 minutes away on the bus which run every 15 minutes - try and get the green bus that run at 15 mins and 45 mins past the hour they have a conductor on and are more comfortable than the coach type bus which you pay the driver on boarding. Get off at stop No 4 as you walk through the town and see all the quirky shops. There’s loads of coffee shops and restaurants too. Get back on at stop 0 on the harbour as you will guaranteed a seat as it the fist stop. The buses do get very busy and it’s a long way back to stand all the way. Finally go to watch the planes come in at the end of the airport , just walk down the strip at the end of the harbour. It’s an amazing experience! We absolutely loved Skiathos and can’t wait to return.
We have just had our 2nd stay here. Have been to Skiathos 10 times and this is our favourite hotel. Small and friendly. Spotlessly clean. Basic rooms are quite small but very comfortable beds with good air con. Staff are so cheerful and friendly including manager Nicos. Pool area and gardens are beautiful. Easily accessible by foot to koukounaries beach in 8 minutes and mandraki and Elias beach through the forest. Bus stop outside for easy trip to Skiathos town. Would definitely stay again. Many thanks!
Just returned from a wonderful week at Mandraki village. We booked very last minute having had our original holiday to Kefalonia cancelled by TUI. On arrival we were greeted with refreshments and a room upgrade to a Family suite which was great for our 20mth old. The room was extremely spacious and clean. The complex itself was set in beautiful gardens and only 10 minute walk from Koukounaries beach. The staff couldn't be any more friendly and helpful and were great with our little girl. The breakfast was plentiful and very fresh. We particular loved the food at Greek night! The pool area was relaxing with a lovely pool for a dip. The grounds were very safe for our young daughter who loved to run around on the grass and play on the swing and slides. Part way through the week we moved to our original booked room which was a standard garden room, again very clean but seemed very small after the family suite. My only criticism of this room was the shower which sprayed water everywhere which made the bathroom very slippy for a young child. There are some lovely restaurants within walking distance and a bus stop across the road which takes you into Skiathos town and nearby villages. Highly recommended if you are after a chilled out week in beautiful surroundings. Thank you to all the staff for such a lovely week and for keeping our daughter entertained!
Lovely boutique hotel, amazing breakfast!
Very stylish and comfortable hotel, lovely gardens and pool area. Koukanaries beach a short walk away and also a selection of good quality tavernas. Was slightly disappointed with the view from our room (306) which was supposed to be a garden view but looked out onto another building and only a bit of garden. Room very comfortable but expected it to be a bit bigger. Lovely spa type toiletries and slippers provided. The breakfast was truly amazing with everything to help yourself to, no other hotels compared!
Our second stay at The Mandraki
Another wonderful stay at The Mandraki Just returned from our second stay at The Mandraki. Beautiful hotel, grounds and pool area. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. We had a family suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The terrace wasn’t as sunny as our previous room in the blue block, but was private and comfortable. I do feel there is slightly less attention to detail than on our previous visit. The toiletries weren’t replaced as before so you cant rely on them being topped up. The breakfast was as good as ever with masses of choice. I do feel the tables could have been cleared whilst staff were sitting around. Since our last visit a new block has been built which is very attractive, but on a couple of occasions sunbeds were in short supply and was annoying that people had ‘reserved’ them with their belongings. They do need to perhaps buy more beds? However its nitpicking and the staff are delightful and nothing too much for them.
