Honest Review of a Beautiful Hotel with Some Major Issues

Akasha beach hotel is beautiful & the staff cannot be faulted at all, however there are issues. The cleanliness of the hotel is unmatched, rooms are cleaned every day to the highest standard making it super relaxing to come back from a day in the heat to an air conditioned, stunning & clean room. The beds are divine but these cannot be enjoyed for a lie-in in the morning due to the sunbed wars that occur daily. There are maybe 30 sunbeds around the main pool, meaning you have to be ready race at 8:30am for a bed. The hotel argues that there is a second pool, but they fail to show this clearly on the website as it is very small & not what you expect from a 5* hotel. The sunbeds could be allocated on rotation each day so everyone gets a chance to be by the pool & have access to the quality service provided by the waiters & waitresses; this however is not the case. Further to having to race for a sunbed with no queuing system, due to the architecture of the hotel, some of the sunbeds begin to lose the sun at midday & by 5pm, no sunbed is in the sunlight. Furthermore, the hotel appears targeted to a young, classy & modern clientele but there is absolutely nothing to do in the evenings after dinner. There is music on yes but the bar shuts at 12 & there are not many tables around the bar area where music plays so again, we spent many nights without access to the comfort the hotel offers. If you are not sat by the bar, no body comes round to take a drinks order from you. The food is top quality but the buffet stills becomes repetitive. As my boyfriend & I went all inclusive we did not think this would be a problem as “snacks” are included throughout the day. Turns out “snacks” only means limited cold items - chips & so on during the day are not included & you have to pay extra - not what you expect at a 5* hotel all inclusive. With the all inclusive package costing around £500 each extra for a week we could not wait to sit & have a cocktail around the pool. To our further disappointment, the all inclusive does not include many of the very popular drinks. Strawberry daquaris, pornstar martinis & pina coladas are not included. There are two house beers & a few wine options. Each cocktail costs about €8.50, & whilst we definitely drunk our money worth in mojitos, the drinks menu for all inclusive guests becomes boring. How are standard cocktails not included when we have spent so much money? Location wise, everything we wanted was on our doorstep, bars, clubs & restaurants. However whilst on this part of the Island you will not see a single sunset (obviously not the hotels fault but just something to consider). This is true also for sea facing rooms & the sunlight is lost from around midday. A piece of advice - do NOT get a city facing room. City facing means overlooking the main road & other guests have complained that the noise mirrors that of the m25. Similarly, the plunge pools are cold & not worth the money. Beautiful for instagram pictures but not practical, all the guests in the hotel can see you so there is no privacy & the are very cold. Due to this we have not seen a single person using their pool whilst we have stayed here. Half board guests can change dinner to lunch which is a great benefit, further making the all inclusive package less desirable as it is not good value for money. Both packages include 1 meal at the speciality restaurant which was impressive, picturesque & delicious. One night we had people banging on our door at 3:30am disrupting us from our sleep. After complaining about this, our disappointment about the all inclusive package & sunbed situation, the hotel allowed us to add one cocktail to the drinks package. The spa treatment was the highlight of the holiday & definitely worth the money! Maybe our expectations for this holiday & hotel were too high but we simply expected relaxation, sun & to be able to eat & drink to our hearts content. Instead we were bored of the drinks, paying for food & sitting in the shade after 1pm around the main pool. Absolutely do not bring young ones here as there is nothing for them to do but if you want some stunning pictures of the scenary & of yourselves for instagram this is the place for you. Read the reviews & evaluate whether the all inclusive package is worth it. We wanted to say thank you to the incredible service delivered by the staff, the spa team, bartenders & waiters & waitresses made our experience lovely. Unfortunately, overall we cannot help but be disappointed by our week abroad; it has cost us a lot of money & has not given us what we expected. The service may be 5*, but we do not feel our holiday was. ** For reference these pictures of the hotel have been taken at 1pm**

Excellent stay

Had a 9 day stay at Akasha beach and Spa hotel and had an amazing time. The hotel itself is lovely, clean and aesthetically pleasing. The room was a pleasure to be in too, with a large balcony. The staff were spot on, always making us feel welcome and helping us with any queries we had. The hotel had options of 2 restaurants, the standard buffet and could book reservations at their Italian restaurant. Both had lovely food, the food at the buffet did get a bit repetitive but the option of the italian restaurant abled us to mix it up! There are a large amount of reviews complaining about no sunbeds available around the pool area, this was true with people reserving them early in the morning. However we found that the sunbeds at the beach and beach house were far nicer surroundings! Great time and would happily come back. William

Fab hotel if you’re in a couple and mid 20s

I spent a week, half board with my 19 year old daughter. I can’t fault the hotel for service, food, wonderful staff, decor, location, amenities et etc. “A” star, amazing! We had a fantastic holiday - beautiful sea view room with a wonderful view. But. Queuing from 7am to get “pole position” at the main pool in order to take selfie after selfie?!? Is this what being on holiday is about? Sitting at dinner continuously on your phone? Total lack of engagement with fellow guests to the point of being rude? Not sure .. but .. extremely odd clientele and odd vibe. Best experiences were “getting out” 😂 on a yacht trip, quad bike safari and walking up to Hersonissos for drinks and dinner I think if you enjoy watching Love Island, are mid 20s and want to pretend you’re in Miami this hotel is perfect.

Best Holidays at Akasha Beach Hotel & Spa

Returned home yesterday from an amazing 8 nights holidays at this hotel. We stayed in rooms 4207- 4208. We had the best experience at this hotel. There is no fault about this hotel. The hotel itself is amazing and its a perfect location right on the beach. The room is clean on daily basis (depending if you remember to turn on the red or green light on before leaving the room. Fresh towels and beach towels changed on daily basis. The staff are an absolute credit to this place, very friendly, hard working and helpful. The spa treatment is amazing. George and Elena are amazing and friendly, I had full deep tissue massage and our daughter had the facial treatment, we felt so refreshed and revitalised after the treatment. The indoor pool is beautiful. We always used the beds at the beach and found you could always get one after breakfast. This wasn’t the case for the main pool area which is understandable as it’s the most popular area. Previous reviews are correct about the Love Island rejects running for the pool beds at 08.50ish. Special big thanks to the beach guys - Mikhalis, Christian, Dimitriz, Alessandra – they are absolute fantastic, friendliest and very helpful. Kristian always makes us laugh. The food is amazing, plenty to choose from breakfast, lunch and dinner. The team at the bar, Manos, Dimitris and the rest of the team were an absolute joy to have met and served us some beautifull cocktails. Excellent service throughout. From our experience, we highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely return to this hotel for our next holiday.
